Classification of Automobile Sealant

Glass cement

It can be used to stick the windshield and rear window on the car, so that it can be firmly bonded to the car body. The use of glass cement completely abandoned the backward means of traditional glass installation, making the glass matching work easier to operate and the degree of automation has improved greatly. In addition, the glass adhesive also has the properties of good strength, elasticity, compression resistance and earthquake resistance.


Polyvinyl chloride, as the base of automotive silicone adhesive, can be divided into two types: coloring and non coloring. Its main function is to keep the whole car body sealed and keep away moisture, dust and smoke from outside. In addition, this sealant also has the functions of anti-corrosion, sound insulation and beautification of vehicles. The coloured high performance silicone can be applied to the low temperature and high temperature baking process, and can be applied to the visible gaps in the sealing outside, and it will not stain the dry finish. The non coloured sealant can be used to fill the gap inside the car body or to brush it against the chassis. In addition, this non coloured sealant is lighter than the traditional PVC sealant by more than 65%, which has played an important role in reducing the weight of the vehicle.

Reinforcing glue

It can be used to strengthen the metal plates and thermosetting plastic plates belonging to the automobile industry. It can also be used in the joint parts, sewing joints, doors, interior floors and luggage compartment of automobile components to prevent deformation and bending. In addition, reinforcing rubber also has buffering and buffering functions, and is widely used in decoration materials of car body inner wall. This strengthened adhesive material can be firmly combined with various substrates, such as iron parts that are oil filled. In the process of designing a new type of car box, the use of reinforced glue allows the designer to reduce the thickness of the steel sheet without reducing the strength. When the adhesive is actually used, it is a three layer composite material: the surface is covered with cloth glassy paper, the middle layer is a sticky high polymer with glass fiber skeleton material, and the bottom is the anti sticky paper. The composite material can be made into various geometric sizes and shapes according to needs. It is easy to use, just remove the anti sticking paper and stick it to the needed parts. Its gelatin will be hardened after baking process, resulting in good enhancement and reinforcement. Generally speaking, the strength after reinforcement is hundreds of times that of the material before reinforcement. The reinforcing glue has two formulations: high temperature and medium temperature; in addition, there is a kind of expansible product. The aggregate adhesive of this product will expand at the time of its condensation.

Structural adhesive

Over the past 20 years, structural adhesives have been widely used by automotive manufacturers to replace welding and mechanical parts to reduce their specific gravity, and their bonding objects include composite plastics and metal materials. It can not only bond various structural elements, but also have sealing function. Traditional mechanical riveting and welding process doesn’t have this advantage.

Polyurethane foam

A foaming agent is developed for automobile manufacturers to produce low noise and comfortable automobiles. The polyurethane foam product can be used for noise reduction and damping of car body structure. Some hollow structures in car body components often cause air resonance, resulting in noise. Filling these tightly packed bubbles with these hollow structures will solve the above problems. The foam has high density and low density. Low density foam can be used to fill some potholes in vehicle components. When the low density foam is injected into the hole, the liquid mixture expands rapidly, and the volume of the foam can reach 40 times its initial volume, and finally a layer of solidified foam is formed. This process can be completed within a short 15min. High density foam is used for reinforcement of important structural parts such as beams and columns. The characteristics of its slow expansion enable the injected liquid mixture to have enough time to flow through and fill the hollow structure. After expansion, the volume is only about 10 times that of its initial volume. After 30mins, it will solidify completely.
